We already explained what to do if your Amazon Echo isn’t connecting to the Wi-Fi network, but now it’s time to speak about whether Amazon Echo Dot can work without Wi-Fi.
Amazon Echo Dot gives you a lot of options. From listening to music to getting answers to questions that interest you.
However, Amazon Echo Dot requires Wi-Fi for all of this to be available. If you don’t have home Wi-Fi, there are still two ways you can use to make the Amazon Echo Dot still work.
There are two ways to use Amazon Echo Dot without Wi-Fi:
- Use a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot.
- Use the Amazon Echo Dot via Bluetooth.
Why Amazon Echo Dot doesn’t work without Wi-Fi?
The Amazon Echo Dot, as well as any other Alexa device, is built around Wi-Fi access, from access to Google to Amazon Music. You just can’t access these features without Wi-Fi. So if you want to use all the features of the Amazon Echo Dot you need Wi-Fi access.
However, you can still use the Amazon Echo Dot without Wi-Fi by connecting it via Bluetooth. In that case, you can use the Amazon Echo Dot as a portable speaker.
Of course, you won’t be able to access all of the Amazon Echo Dot’s features this way, but at least your Amazon Echo Dot won’t be gathering dust.
How to use Amazon Echo Dot via Bluetooth
If you don’t have stable Wi-Fi access, you can use your device as a speaker.
However, even in this way, you will need access to Wi-Fi to connect your Amazon Echo Dot to Bluetooth. If you don’t have Wi-Fi at home, you can use a public network.
Once you have found a Wi-Fi connection, you can connect your Echo via Bluetooth. That’s what you should do:
- Open the Alexa app on your smartphone.
- Open the “Menu” and select “Settings.
- Turn on Bluetooth on the device you want to connect.
- Select the device you want to connect.
