iOS 16 has a widget-shaped shortcut for playing Dino in Chrome

Yesterday, Apple released iOS 16. Probably the first thing users noticed was the redesigned lock screen. Apple now allows you to customize the font and accent color of screen elements, such as the date and time. In addition, there is finally an option to add widgets. To date, there are only a few widgets available from Apple. But in the coming days and weeks, most app developers, including Google, will probably add their own widgets.

On the day the new version of iOS was released, Google immediately gave information about what users of Search, Chrome, Drive, Maps, Gmail, and News can expect when these apps support iOS lock screen widgets. For the most part, there aren’t too many surprises here. Most apps will come with several different widgets, allowing you to access some features with a single tap.

For example, the Chrome widgets include shortcuts for the browser’s incognito mode and voice search features. There’s even a separate widget for Chrome’s Dino game, just in case you find yourself without an Internet connection and need something to pass the time.

Best of all, you don’t have to download anything. “Once our widgets are available, just press and hold down your Lock Screen to start customizing,” Google says. According to the company, you can expect them in the “coming weeks”.
