Subscription to Twitter Blue will have phone number verification and a higher price on iOS

Starting Monday, December 12, Twitter is resuming Blue’s subscription. It was previously reported that the subscription would cost $8 a month online or $11 a month in the iOS app store. The price difference will be because Elon Musk needs to compensate for the 30 percent commission that Apple takes on in-app purchases.

It’s been a month since the rejection of the first not-so-successful attempt to launch a paid subscription. In the wake of this testing of Blue’s subscription, Twitter has seen a slew of hoaxed accounts and general chaos. But how will it work now?

This time, anyone who pays for Blue and wants to see the “verified” mark on their profile will have to register a phone number first. Then, changing the “name, display name or profile picture” will cause the mark to be removed until your account is verified again.

Esther Crawford, Twitter’s product manager, made this point. He said the company is adding a requirement to verify the phone before users get the blue tick to combat impersonation.

Earlier, during another discussion of Twitter’s innovations, Musk said accounts would be “manually authenticated” before their profiles get the blue tick.

To the chips of the blue tick, Twitter will allow users to edit tweets, upload 1080p videos and access read mode.

You should also expect external changes to the blue tick. In the future, it should work so that the gold check mark will be displayed for businesses. A little later, Twitter should add a gray check mark for “government and multilateral accounts.
