Developers CD Projekt Red made a whole bunch of announcements regarding their Cyberpunk 2077 game on September 6. This was timed to coincide with the release of the Edgerunners update on all available platforms. In addition, the developers have announced the imminent release of the first major DLC.
The DLC will be called “Phantom Freedom”. It will take place in the previously inaccessible area of Night City. Judging by the trailer it is created on the model of American spy thrillers. There’s even an oath to protect the U.S., which will be given to the player. In addition, the main star of Cyberpunk – Keanu Reeves will return to the role of Johnny Silverhand. The events of the DLC will unfold before the end of the original game.
However, players will have to wait a little longer, the release of this DLC is scheduled for 2023, without a specific date. However, there is some bad news. The developers announced that DLC will be available only on next-generation consoles and PC. It means that if you have a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version of the game, you won’t be able to buy and play the upcoming DLC. The first teaser of the new DLC has already been released.
Also, a new special episode of Night City Wire has been released. It was dedicated to the anime spin-off Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners. It explained how the story of the anime will be integrated into the world of the game and introduced some new outfits, gear, and photo mode features.
It was also announced that there will soon be a new Roach Race minigame. It will be possible to play through the arcade machines, located in the city. It was also said about the soon-to-be-added closet feature. Which was announced, but never made it into the final build, is now finally available. The developers also added a cross-progression feature in the update.
In addition, a performance mode is now available for Xbox Series S owners. Players will be able to play Cyberpunk 2077 at 60 FPS in 900p with dynamic resolution scaling. For PC modders, a free DLC REDmod with more official modding tools has been announced. This will allow players to create their own levels and missions.
Recall that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is the upcoming anime in the cyberpunk universe. It will be available on Netflix from September 13. Also, players will be able to enjoy the role-playing game Cyberpunk RED and expansion packs and learn the answers to many of the secrets from the original game.
