The gaming world was abuzz with releasing the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto V, but gamers weren’t the only ones who felt the excitement. American rock musician Tom Petty experienced an unexpected surge in popularity due to his song “Love Is a Long Road” featured in the trailer.
Data from Spotify revealed a staggering 36,979% increase in song streams following the trailer’s premiere compared to the previous week’s period. “Love Is a Long Road” has been played over 12 million times, and the numbers are expected to continue climbing.
This track, released in 1989 as part of Petty’s debut solo album “Full Moon Fever,” is not the first time Petty’s work has been associated with the Grand Theft Auto series. Another song from the same album, “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” was previously featured on the rock radio station in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. This leads to speculation that “Love Is a Long Road” might also be included in the upcoming GTA 6 game.
