In today’s world, video games play a very large role in the lives of young people. Especially competitive ones, such as first-person shooters. One of the largest representatives of such games is the tactical shooter Valorant. Since its release, it remains one of the best free PC games with a complex competitive system. Like many similar games in Valorant, there are usual unrated modes, but also there are modes where you will compete with players of similar skill levels, thanks to a good rating system of players’ skills.

What are the ranks in Valorant

There are a total of 8 tiers in the Valorant ranking system. Starting with Iron and ending with Radiant. All tiers except Radiant have three levels, where level 1 is the lowest and level 3 the highest. The top 500 players in each region are ranked Radiant. Ranks in Valorant :

  1. Iron (Iron 1, Iron 2, Iron 3)
  2. Bronze (Bronze 1, Bronze 2, Bronze 3)
  3. Silver (Silver 1, Silver 2, Silver 3)
  4. Gold (Gold 1, Gold 2, Gold 3)
  5. Platinum (Platinum 1, Platinum 2, Platinum 3)
  6. Diamond (Diamond 1, Diamond 2, Diamond 3)
  7. Immortal (Immortal 1, Immortal 2, Immortal 3)
  8. Radiant

How does the Valorant ranking system work

The rank system in Valorant works similarly to other such games. To start, you need to play 10 games to gain access to ranked matches. Next, you have to play 5 matches to calibrate your initial ranking. Valorant uses a system known as MMR to rank players. You have a number that is tied to your account. Depending on your play it goes up or down, when you reach a certain number of points you move up to the next rank or down to the previous rank.

How to earn MMR points

To increase your rank you need to win ranked games, and winning means much more than your individual performance. This changes at high rankings. At Immortal and Radiant Ranks, the game will look at how you played, individual scores will play a big role in the matchmaking process. The developers at Riot say this is because it ‘trusts you and your teammates have earned your way there.’. Your rank will also be hidden if you are inactive for 14 days. As soon as you play at least one match, everything will come back. At the start of each new Act, you will need to play 5 matches to re-calibrate your rank. But your previous MMR will also be taken into account, so the result of this calibration should not be very different from your previous rating.

What are Valorant acts

Acts are like seasonal passes to Valorant. Each act lasts about 2 months. Over the course of one act, you will be able to improve your rank and overall progression. The game also has Episodes, each Episode contains three Acts and lasts for 6 months. Now, the second Act of the third Episode is in game.

What means Valorant act ranks

Also in each Act, you will have a triangle in your account, which will be filled with smaller triangles that will reflect your victories. Each triangle will reflect a victory in a ranked game. They will be different colors depending on what rank you were at the beginning of this match, so if your rank changes after the match, the triangle will remain in the color of the previous rank. The number of triangles is limited, and wins at higher ranks will displace wins at lower ranks. The frame of the large triangle will change after reaching a certain number of wins: 9, 25, 50, 75, 100. Your Act rank, his progress, match history, and rank will be able to see your friends.
