Renowned author George R. R. Martin recently shared his impressions from visiting the set of the popular series “House of the Dragon”. During his stay in London, where he met with British publishers and discussed future projects, Martin also found time to visit Leavesden Studios, where this thrilling series is being filmed.

The writer admired the sets’ scale and realism, particularly noting the magnificent scenes at the Red Keep and Dragonstone. According to him, these sets are so realistic that they create a feeling of being in medieval Westeros. Martin also mentioned that no real medieval castles can compare to the ones created for the show.

During his visit, Martin also spent two days discussing the third and fourth seasons of the series with Ryan Condal and his writing team. The author shared that while the discussions were lively and fruitful, even two days did not cover all aspects of the future seasons.

However, the trip’s highlight was an exclusive preview of the first two episodes of the second season of “House of the Dragon.” Martin was thrilled with what he saw, noting that the episodes were “very dark,” emotional, and touching. He confessed that although he did not cry, one of his friends was deeply moved by the viewing.

The second season’s premiere is scheduled for the summer of 2024, and although there has been no official renewal of the series for a third season yet, many believe the chances are very high. Martin had previously mentioned that it would take four seasons to narrate the civil war of House Targaryen fully.
