Xbox S users may encounter a problem when their device starts up, but shuts down afterwards. This can happen immediately after starting a game, or it can happen randomly by itself. There are several explanations for this phenomenon:

  1. Console overheats
  2. Problem with the cord or power supply
  3. TURN OFF setting is on

But don’t worry, there are ways to fix these problems.

Turn off setting

To change this setting, you must open the manual and select Settings. Then press Select All Settings. Then press Select Power, and then press Shutdown or restart.
These settings should fix the situation and the console will no longer shut down. But that may not be the problem.

How to determine what is wrong

First, check to see if the power cord is damaged. It should be well connected to the Xbox and should not be bent or twisted. Also make sure that there is no heavy accumulation of dust on the vents of the Xbox. Its presence can cause the device to overheat, which will cause it not to work. If after this review you realize that the Xbox power cord is to blame, you should simply replace it.

A message that says your Xbox One console is not getting proper ventilation

In case you see a message that your Xbox One console is not getting proper ventilation or the Xbox is very hot, you need to fix it. You have a simple solution for this. In case you see a message that your Xbox One console is not getting proper ventilation or the Xbox is very hot, you need to fix it:

  • You just need to turn off the console and cut off the power by unplugging it from the outlet.
  • After that, wait about an hour before turning the Xbox back on.
  • You can move the Xbox to a place with good ventilation for faster cooling.
  • If the console has cooled down completely, you can try turning it on again.

This may help you solve the problem, but the problem may also not be as easily solvable.

Overheating

There are three reasons for overheating:

  • Dust accumulation
  • A component that causes overheating
  • The internal heat fan in the Xbox may be faulty

Dust accumulation

Dust accumulates everywhere, including on the indoor fan heater. If the amount of dust becomes too great, it leads to overheating. This is because the fan heater cannot rotate properly and therefore cannot remove the heat from the inside of your Xbox.

First, you need to blow off the dust. To do this, you can use “Dust-Off” or “Air in A Can”. After that you may be able to get rid of the dust. But if that doesn’t help, you’ll have to take the Xbox apart to clean the heat fan as well as its holes. Be careful during disassembly! You just need to clean the inside of it from dust, hair, and other contaminants. Do not touch any internal parts inside the Xbox to avoid static damage.

A component that causes overheating

Also, overheating can cause a component that is on the Xbox One S. That is, things like a Blu-ray player that are installed in a way that blocks the hot air outlet can cause overheating.

For good ventilation, nothing should obstruct its openings. Nothing should stand on top of or behind the console. Also, the console should not be in a small space. Nothing should touch the top of the console. Allow the console to let the hot air out freely.

The internal heat fan in the Xbox may be faulty

If your heat fan inside the Xbox is defective, it will not be able to exhaust hot air. To check if it works, you need to open the Xbox and inspect the fan. Be careful not to touch any other parts inside. If your fan is malfunctioning, you need to replace it. To do this, remove it and install a working one. After installation you can also clean the inside of the console of dust with an “Air In A Can” for example.

Problem with the cord

The problem may be with the power cord. It could be bent or otherwise damaged. If your power cord that comes with your Xbox is defective, the console will shut down intermittently or not turn on at all. You should simply replace it with a new one. Alternatively, if the only problem is that the cord is too bent, try to straighten it out.

If none of these are your problem, and attempts to do any of the above have failed, you can reset the Xbox infusions. Also make sure you have the latest Xbox update installed, because the console should be up to date.
