Going to the movie theater will never go out of style. After all, the atmosphere of the big screen, powerful surround sound, and, of course, popcorn capture the hearts of many. Of course, the choices aren’t endless, and you can’t pause when something else demands your attention, but seeing an exciting movie on the silver screen is a separate pleasure.
On Sept. 3, theaters across the U.S. will make the experience more accessible. As part of the recently announced National Cinema Day, more than 3,000 theaters across the U.S., including chains like AMC, will be offering $3 tickets. All of the major movie studios and more than 30,000 theaters are participating in the promotion, so the theater closest to you will likely be participating as well.
“After this summer’s record-breaking return to cinemas, we wanted to do something to celebrate moviegoing,” said Cinema Foundation president Jackie Brenneman. “We’re doing it by offering a ‘thank you’ to the moviegoers that made this summer happen, and by offering an extra enticement for those who haven’t made it back yet.”
As people return to theaters to see new movies, the industry is still coping with the effects of COVID-19. As a result of the pandemic, movie studios such as Universal have significantly cut back on theatrical screenings, and many chains, including Regal Cinemas, have struggled to stay open amid strict lockdown measures in the U.S. and other parts of the world.
