For many newcomers to Amazon, the gift sending feature may come as news. It’s hardly a new feature for such services, but sending a gift on Amazon has its own distinctive features and nuances that will be interesting to you.
How to send a gift
Goods in the form of a gift can be sent if they are made by Amazon.com or selected sellers. As we have already said, this way of sending has its own differences:
- When sending a gift, you can include a packing list so that the recipient knows who sent it.
- To keep the recipient unaware of the cost of the gift, there is a feature that hides the prices on the packing list.
- You can add a personal message to a gift.
- Traditionally you can wrap your gift in gift wrap.
- If necessary, you can send the recipient a digital copy of the gift receipt.
- Send the gift by e-mail or text message without giving the recipient’s delivery address.
Amazon prints the gift message for this type of sending on the packing slip. If you choose to wrap everything in gift wrap, the packing list will be in an envelope marked “Don’t Spoil the Surprise”. The shipping address and name of the recipient will be listed on the packing slip. If your order includes items for different recipients, make sure you include a gift message for each item. This is so that if the recipient is defective or unwilling to accept the gift, they can use the packing list to return the item.
What Amazon is doing with items unsuitable for gift warp
Not all items can be gift-wrapped. Some of them are too large or don’t fit the shape. They are often delivering these items in their original packages. In such a case, all information required for delivery will be listed on the packing slip. This will be indicated during the checkout process. In most cases, you will have the option to “Ship in Amazon box” on the checkout page so that the contents of the package aren’t visible. This feature is free. The guidelines don’t change when you check out to send a gift. Any items which you order from a registry or list will be marked as purchased so that the recipient doesn’t receive a duplicate gift.
