It’s hard to imagine our life without phones. Today our whole life is on our phones. Our smartphones know everything about us. Many people forget that before they became universal tools for solving any problems, phones could only receive incoming and outgoing calls. Today, for many, messenger communication has replaced phone communication. But what to do if your phone for some reason stopped receiving incoming calls and can’t make an outgoing call?
What to do if you can’t receive any calls on your Phone
If you have stopped working calls on your phone, the reasons may be different, perhaps the problem is in your smartphone, and maybe it is caused by the work of the mobile operator. To start with, it is worthwhile to do some troubleshooting, following these tips:
Check if you have any minutes left
If you have no minutes left on your plan, you may not be able to make calls on your phone. You should check your account with your operator. It is worth it to top up your account if you need to.
Restart your phone
Probably, there is a bug in your system. It is worth trying to restart your phone, it might help you to solve the problem. To do this, you need to:
- Press the power button fo few seconds if you have an Android smartphone
- Or hold down the power button and volume button for a few seconds if you have an iPhone
- Then just Press\Slide the power button
Make sure airplane mode or offline mode off
If you have Airplane Mode or Offline, all calls will be blocked, as well as other functions like Wi-fi, Bluetooth, Mobile Internet, etc. The process of disabling these functions is very simple. Follow this manual:
- For Android smartphones just need to swipe from the top of the screen to the bottom to open the “options panel” and then tap on Offline mode
- For iPhones you need to go to Settings and disable Airplane mode there
Is call forwarding activated
Call forwarding must be switched off on your device to receive calls. You can do it this way:
- For android phones Open the phone app → Click on the three dots on the top right of the screen → Settings → More settings → Call forwarding
- For iPhones you need to go to Settings – Phone – Call blocking and identification
Is the “Do not disturb” option active?
You must also check that you don’t have the “do not disturb” function enabled. In this case, the disabling of this function may be different for different devices. There will be two examples below:
- For android smartphones most often the button is located in the “Options panel”, to open it swipe your finger from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen.
- For iPhones, just go to Settings – Do not disturb
Use a different mobile phone
You can also insert your SIM card into another phone or replace your SIM card with another and try to make a call. This way you can only determine whether the phone has a problem or there is something wrong with the SIM card.
What to do if problem with SIM card
If you have checked all the ways above and are sure that the SIM card is the cause of your problems, you should start by checking if it is tightly seated in its slot. Take it out and try to put it back in again. If that doesn’t work a good way to check is to call an outside number or try going online on your mobile network. If all else fails, you should contact your operator’s service center.
