How to restart a WiFi router
The first and the easiest thing you can do to fix your problem with a WiFi connection is to restart your WiFi router. Your router should have an on/off button. If there’s no button, simply unplug the cord and then plug it back in. Try connecting to the router from other devices, phones, tablets. If you’re using a wired connection, try connecting directly via cable from a laptop or PC.
Maybe the router is just not configured or there are some malfunctions. If there’s no internet on all of these devices, but there was the internet before. It’s possible that it was just disconnected for non-payment, or the ISP’s line is having some problems. In any case, it’s worth calling your operator. Make sure that the router is within range of the radio waves. Keep in mind that mirrors and metal almost completely jam the signal.
If you’re connected by wire, make sure it’s plugged tightly into the port on both the Playstation 4 and your home router. Make sure the cable is plugged into the LAN port and not the WAN port. Also, make sure that the cable is intact. After that, try reconnecting to the router’s network again.
How to reboot PS4
If you find that your router settings are correct and other devices are connecting to your WiFi network, you can try rebooting your PS4. You can do it by following these steps:
- Press and hold down the PS key on your contoller.
- Then, select “Power” in the appearing menu.
- Finally, choose “Turn Off PS4” or “Restart PS4”.

This will run a short test and display “Successful” or “Failed” for the following one:
- Getting IP address.
- Whether your system successfully gets an IP address from your router.
- If it fails, your PS4 isn’t connecting to the router properly.
- Connecting to the Internet.
- This is successful if your PS4 can connect to the Internet.
- If it fails, the problem lies between your router and the Internet.
- Login to PlayStation Network.
- Checks if your system can connect to the PlayStation Network.
- If it fails, you may be on a network that is blocking the PlayStation Network.

How to re-enter a WiFi password and change your DNS settings on PS4
If you’re using Wi-Fi, make sure you’re using the correct Wi-Fi password. You can also re-enter it on the PS4 to see if the connection is restored. Follow these steps to do so:
- First of all, go to the “Settings” menu using your PS4 controller.
- After that, select “Network”.

- Select your “Primary DNS” and “Secondary DNS”. If you aren’t sure, use primary DNS 8.8.8.8 and secondary DNS 8.8.4.4 for the Google public DNS servers.
- After that, click “Next” and choose “Automatic”.
- Finally, select “Do Not Use”.
