Apple announced new operating systems for its iPhone, iPad, Watch, and Mac devices on the first day of its annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is once again taking place online in 2021. Final versions of iOS 15, iPadOS 15, watchOS 8.0 and macOS Monterey are expected to be released in fall 2021.
Of course, the main star of the presentation was the new iOS 15. I can’t say that it is revolutionary, but it will receive a number of improvements aimed both at preserving users’ personal data and improving the functionality of the iPhone.
Face Time improvements
For example, the FaceTime video calling app will support Spatial Audio, and machine learning technology will improve communication quality by cutting out extraneous noise and enhancing user voices.
What’s more, video calls will get a portrait mode with background blur and keeping the person’s face in focus. People using a FaceTime connection will also be able to share video, music and what is happening on their smartphone using the new SharePlay feature, and owners of Android and Windows devices will be able to participate in group calls.
It will also be possible to share a link to upcoming calls (like you can do in ZOOM or schedule a conference call in Microsoft Teams).
Other iOS 15 changes
The new iOS will redesign the notification system and introduce a “Do Not Disturb” feature that will allow you to turn off all notifications or allow only certain apps, depending on the mode you choose.
The Photos app will get improved photo sorting and photo search functions, Memories will be able to be supplemented with music from Apple Music and change the style of clips. The new feature Live Text will recognize text in photos with the ability to edit it.
Also, Apple has changed and extended the functionality of the Weather app.
Appl added feature to connect your virtual keys to the Wallet app (like keys that will appear in the Hyatt Hotels & Resorts). In the U.S. Wallet will also can replace ID cards and driver’s licenses, if the user uploads there scanned documents.
The Health app will assess a person’s risk of falling by analyzing the user’s walking style with the help of the iPhone’s built-in sensors. There will also be tips on how to improve the movements coordination.
iPad would also get iPadOS 15 and will get widgets support, as well as a split-screen support.
