Finally, after tons of rumors and leaks, Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be the next story in the series. The company will share more information with the gaming community during the Ubisoft Forward event on September 10. At the moment, only some details from the announcement image are available.
Polygon states that it shows Basim ibn Ishaq, a character from the recent Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, jumping with a hidden blade in front of the Golden Gate Palace in Baghdad.
This is consistent with previous leaks about the story that will unfold in the game. They also indicated that Mirage will be the series’ return to stealth gameplay. The new game was originally supposed to be DLC for Valhalla, but Bloomberg reports that it was later transformed into a standalone project to fill Ubisoft’s release schedule.
Regardless of the concept, it’s nice to see the series return to its Middle Eastern roots. Being a super-powered killing machine in Origins and Valhalla is fun and all, but it’s a far cry from the methodical and less action-packed gameplay of the early Assassin games.
