Most of the advertisements have hidden trackers and other threats in them. Email companies are constantly fighting this. This time, DuckDuckGo has released a beta version of its own service to combat malicious emails.

The service will allow users to clear emails of threats in advance. It can also be used to send emails to companies without giving your real email address.

What DuckDuckGo’s Email Protection Service does

The Email Protection Service works so that every user can access a free Duck address (name@duck.com). You can link your existing email or create a new one at DuckDuckGo. The service will receive your emails and clean them from trackers and other malicious content.

The fact is that more than 75% of the advertising mailings have hidden trackers attached. Some of them track if you opened the email, and others are able to track if and where you clicked on the mouse. The DuckDuckGo service will clear the email of this before forwarding it to you.

It also takes unsecured and unencrypted HTTP links in emails and converts them to HTTPS links. That way, every time you click on a link, you can be sure you’re clicking on a secure link.

Also, if you do not want to give anyone your address, you can use the Duck address. This feature is similar to Apple’s Sign in with Apple tool.

DuckDuckGo offers users to install an extension for all popular browsers, such as Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and others. The extension is also available on mobile devices. However, at the moment there is no support for the browser from Microsoft.
