More than 24 hours have passed since most Twitter pollsters asked him to step down as CEO, and Musk finally broke the silence and announced that he would resign as soon as he could find an adequate replacement. The announcement came amid rumors that Mr. Musk is actively looking for a replacement to run one of the most important social networks to date.

After acquiring Twitter for $44 billion earlier this year, Musk has struggled to find creative ways to generate revenue on the platform, even though it hasn’t even been profitable. The recent controversy surrounding the billionaire has put him at the center of divided American politics.

Musk criticized the former Twitter management’s policy of suppressing free speech on the platform and took several steps to reverse these decisions by restoring various accounts. At the same time, he took action against fake accounts or “bots” on the platform, which often surrounded Musk’s tweets.

Throughout his time at Twitter, Musk repeatedly talked about how hard it was to run another company. As soon as he took over the company, he decided to fire most of Twitter’s employees but later called some of them back. This was part of his effort to ensure that only the most “resilient” employees remained at the company.

His time on Twitter has also stirred up Tesla investors, who now demand that the executive devote more time to his car company. At the same time, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) officials, according to unconfirmed reports, repeatedly tried to get assurances that the whole Twitter saga wouldn’t affect SpaceX’s commitments.
