You can effectively manage how you spend your time on your Android phone with the Digital Wellbeing app.
On individual phones, you can get information about how often you use your phone. For example, how often you lock and unlock it or how long you use each individual app. You can also set app timers or schedule a display change.
Also, note that some of these features will only work on phones with Android 10 or later.
If you want to find Digital Wellbeing as an app, open it in your phone’s Settings and then check the Show icon in the app list.
In order to view information about how your phone is being used, you need to:
- Open the Settings app.
- Click on Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.
- Under “Your Digital Wellbeing tools” tap Show your data.
This will show you the information you are interested in. You can also control your child’s device if you activate the parental controls on their device.
How to manage the amount of time you spend in different apps
You can also use this app to keep track of how much time you spend in each app and further limit the amount of time you spend on different apps.
In order to see how much time you spend in each app you need:
- Open Settings on your phone.
- Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.
- Here you can see on the graph how you are using your phone today. You can also get more information by clicking on the graph. Such as:
- Screen time: What apps have been on the screen and for how long.
- Unlocks: How often you unlocked the phone and opened certain apps.
- Notifications: How many notifications you received and from which apps.
- For more information or to change app settings, you need to tap that app in the list.
You also have the option to limit the amount of time you spend in each app per day. To activate the timer, you need to:
- Open the Settings app on your phone.
- Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.
- Next to the desired app is the Set timer button.
- Choose how much time you can spend in the app.
- Then click Set.
Once the timer ends, the app will close and its icon will fade. If you need to use the app again before the next day, you need to repeat steps 1-4 and remove the timer from the settings.
How to manage your time in Google Chrome
In addition to features on your phone, the Digital Wellbeing & parental controls option has integration with the Google Chrome browser. You can use it to view the sites you’ve visited and how much time you’ve spent on them. This is a very handy feature for tracking your online activity. In order to use it, you need to:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Digital Wellbeing and Parental Controls.
- Then tap on Chart.
- After that, tap the Google Chrome icon.
- If you can’t find it, you need the Show all apps button.
- Scroll down and tap on Show sites visited and then Show.
- Here you’ll be able to see information about which websites you’ve visited and how much time you spent on each during the day.
- For more information on the time you spent on each site, you need to click on it.
If you don’t want anyone to see this information, you can simply hide it.

At the bottom, you will see the Remove past visits And then Remove.
Note that if you visit the site again in the future, it will appear again in this list.

- Tap the chart And then Chrome Chrome.
- Next to the website that you want to limit your visit, click on the Set site timer button.
- Select the time limit and tap OK.
When the timer expires, the site will automatically close. This can be very useful if you can go to your favorite site and simply lose track of time.
