Facebook is good because, using it, you can both communicate with other people through messenger and share events and impressions by posting on your page. Cannot say that these features are unique only for Facebook. There are a lot of social networks with a similar set of features, but Facebook can be safely called a pioneer in this field.

Is it possible in general to make the post shareable

Often you find posts on other people’s pages and crunches that are starting to appeal to us. So in those situations, you might want to either save the post on your page or share it with others. Understanding this, you may want also to make your posts shareable for other people.

How to make post shareable on your home page

If you want to make the post publicly available on your page, first check whether it’s visible to everyone. To do this, first:

  1. Open Facebook and log in.
  2. Go to the home page and click on “What’s on your mind?”.
  3. Find the security button under your profile name. Click on it.
  4. Once clicked, you will have several available settings modes to choose from. Select from among the following options:
    • Public — the post will be available to all outsiders, both on and off Facebook.
    • Friends — users on your friends list will be able to share the post.
    • Friends except… — all users in your friends list will be able to share the post, except the ones you specify here.
    • Specific friends — only the people you specify here will be able to share the post.
    • Only me — the post is yours alone.
    • Custom — with this feature, you can determine who can access the post.

When you’re done selecting your options, complete the post. If you want to make the post shareable in the group you manage, the method is the same.

How to make a post shareable in a group you belong to

If we’re talking about a group where you belong, it depends on whether the group is public or private. If you post in a public group, your posts will be shareable. If it’s a private group, then making the post available for distribution outside the group is impossible. The only thing you can do is this:

  1. Create a post on your home page and make sure it’s public. How to do this described above.
  2. In the lower right corner of your post, click on the “Share” button.
  3. When you click, a menu window will appear. Find “Share in Group” among the available functions.
  4. Among the pages to where you can send your post, find the private group you’re a member of.
That way you can publish the post in a private group and everyone else who wants to share it outside the group can go to the original post and share it from there.

How to make post shareable after publishing it

Sometimes while creating a post, you can forget to make it shareable. In these cases, you can adjust the post as needed after it’s published. To do this, you need to:

  1. Find the post to which you want to change accessibility settings.
  2. Under your profile name, next to the post date, find the little icon and click on it.

This way you can change the access settings of your post after you had already published it.
