A very frequently used and important app for all Apple users is iMessage. It allows Apple users to exchange text messages and various files, such as photos or videos, with each other.
Apple has added a feature to its messenger that allows you to correct a message after it has been sent or cancel it. This is quite convenient, but in some cases, users have abused it. Therefore, the company has changed the time limits for these functions in the latest iOS 16 beta update for better security.
What editing and deleting limits will now be in iMessage
Apple is constantly adding functionality to its next version of iOS 16 beta. Not so long ago, Apple introduced a lockdown feature for their devices. Now users are facing another new feature.
Now editing sent messages in iMessages will be limited in time. Besides you can delete the sent message as well only after a short period. Thus you can edit a message only 15 minutes after it was sent. And you can delete it only if 2 minutes have not passed.
This way Apple is trying to fight the abuse of these functions. Often users could change an already sent message in order to distort the essence of the dialogue and thus frame the person they are talking to. Also, the delete function was previously available for 15 minutes, which was considered by the company as a very long period that people could use to manipulate and cheat.
You should not forget that you can also completely turn off the ability to delete or edit messages you’ve sent. To do this you will have to turn off iMessage and then users will write you a simple text message, which can not be edited.
