Amazon wants to stream football games, not just on Thursdays. The company agrees with the NFL that Prime Video will broadcast the annual Black Friday game. The first broadcast will be on Nov. 24, 2023, around 3 p.m. ET, and teams will be announced after the league announces the schedule for the season.

Deadline reports that the Black Friday deal is separate from Thursday Night Football. Although it’s unclear exactly how much Amazon paid, under the existing weekly agreement, Amazon will spend about $1 billion annually until 2033.

In addition to creating an annual tradition, it will give you an excuse to visit Amazon and sign up for Prime just as the holiday shopping frenzy begins. You can come to the soccer game, but stay to buy toys or an Echo speaker.

According to Nielsen ratings, the debut showing of Thursday Night Football on Prime Video currently averages 10.8 million viewers. That’s a 25 percent increase in the 18-49 age group over the first five games of 2021. The Black Friday broadcast may not accelerate the growth, but it could keep viewers.
