Spotify acquired podcast host Anchor in 2019. It then became a key tool for building that platform’s podcast library. There are now over 4.7 million shows on the platform.
Spotify has once again sent out a survey proposing to merge Spotify for Podcasters and Anchor features. In this survey, participants were told that “Anchor and Spotify for Podcasters are now Spotify Creator Studio, a one-stop platform for creators of all kinds to express and find success on Spotify.”
What will change after this?
It’s a topic we can speculate about for a long time because it seems like almost nothing. But then why all the fuss about it?
We can assume that the new system will divide the users into two groups. The first group without hosting will receive some statistics and be able to publish questions and answers and polls, which are currently only available to users of Anchor. For those users with hosting, there will be more options. That is, hosted users will retain the basic tools of Anchor – the creation of podcasts and video podcasts, dynamic advertising, and subscriptions.
After that, it’s worth figuring out why they should rebrand. Actually, it’s more to create a clearer path to attract podcasters who use third-party podcast hosts. Along with that, perhaps branding everything under Spotify Creator Studio would give more room for creativity in providing statistics on the podcast business.
