Nvidia presented a new 4000 graphics card generation at a recent presentation. Along with them should come many improvements, including the release of DLSS 3 technology. Judging from what we know and different benchmarks, this technology will work much better than its predecessor.
Accurate user tests will show the actual feature performance after its release. However, according to the company, it works on a new technology named Optical Multi Frame Generation. It gives a massive increase in performance.
How does DLSS 3 work?
DLSS stands for Deep Learning supersampling. Nvidia released this technology with the release of the first RTX graphics cards. It helps to refine pixels and improve performance with artificial intelligence.
Now the company is releasing DLSS 3, and this feature differs from the previous version in that it will render whole frames at once instead of pixels. Nvidia said at its presentation that DLSS 3 would be more than 50% more productive than DLSS 2.
This was made possible by the fact that the new series of video cards came with Optical Multi Frame Generation technology. This is aided by the new Optical Flow Accelerator, built into the Ada architecture for analyzing and computing the images and corresponding motion vector data for objects on the screen. This enables the faster rendering of light traces and improves performance while reducing the load on the graphics cards.
How much is DLSS 3 better than DLSS 2?
So far, we have received relatively little information about how DLSS 3 will differ from DLSS 2. During the presentation, the company showed clips from Microsoft Airplane Simulator and Cyberpunk 2077. Their results were very pleasantly surprised.
The clips demonstrated by Nvidia show Cyberpunk 2077 ran with DLSS 2 at 60 FPS, while DLSS 3 increased the frames per second to 90+. This is an excellent result if you remember how voracious Cyberpunk is. I would say that it is currently the most demanding game on the market.
In the case of Flight Simulator without DLSS, the game was doing about 60fps. After turning on DLSS 3, the frame rate was over 110. This result was much better than Cyberpunk.
However, it is worth understanding that large corporations can lie in their advertising campaigns, so you should always wait to release new graphics cards to assess how much impact they will have with accurate user tests. If DLSS 3 does show performance improvements of up to 50 percent or more, that will be a giant leap, and then the 4000 graphics cards will be worth their money.

When is the DLSS 3 release date, and what hardware support it?
DLSS 3 is due out on the first day of the release of the new video cards on October 12. It will be available as soon as you insert the video card into your computer. Another question is when the developers will release the drivers and which games will be added to DLSS 3. Since there is no backward compatibility, not all projects with DLSS 2 will have DLSS 3. However, Nvidia has said that implementing DLSS 3 is easy, and many developers will likely start adding DLSS to their games quickly.
At the time of release, DLSS 3 will be available in Cyberpunk 2077, Flight Simulator, Hitman 3, Dying Light 2 Stay Human, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed, and F1 22. It goes both ways, as upcoming games such as Atomic Heart, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide have been supported as well.
DLSS 3 will only be available on new 4000-series graphics cards. Also, Nvidia said that DLSS 3 would be available only on high-end 4000-series graphics cards. This is not yet accurate, and if it proves successful and famous, it might appear in a more basic 4000 series graphics card.
