Google has released its new Android 13. It is currently the newest and most technologically advanced operating system for smartphones. It is already available on Google Pixel.
Many users are wondering when the most popular Android smartphone – Samsung Galaxy will get the new update to Android 13. Of course, Samsung has long been releasing its own Android shell – One UI. So the world is still waiting for the release of the new One UI 5.
When Android 13 becomes available for Galaxy devices
An open beta version of Samsung’s new operating system called One UI 5.0 has already been released. In addition to the standard features of the new android, such as the ‘clear calling’ feature, Samsung adds its own shell and some system widgets, as well as its own branded applications, such as Samsung Pay.
So when will the new One UI 5.0 be released to all users? In fact, Samsung has not yet named a specific date, but looking at the experience of past operating systems we can make a guess.
Last year, the last Android 12 was released on October 4. And the One UI 4 update did not take place until almost 2 months later, at the end of November. So if this year’s history repeats, we will have to expect a new OS on the Samsung Galaxy sometime before the end of October. Of course, the first thing to receive the update will be Samsung’s flagship smartphones, and then, if no critical bugs are found, the rest of the smartphones will receive the update.
Which Galaxy devices are compatible with Android 13
Since there is no official release date for the new operating system, it would be silly to expect a list of supported devices. However, based on Samsung’s official statements about support for their devices in the future, we can conclude that the following models will definitely receive support for One UI 5.0:
- Galaxy S20 series
- Galaxy S21 series
- Galaxy S22 series
- Galaxy Note 20 series
- Galaxy Tab S8 series
- Galaxy Tab S7 series
- Galaxy Z Fold 2, Fold 3 and Fold 4
- Galaxy Z Flip, Flip 3, and Flip 4
- Galaxy A52 and A53
- Galaxy A71, A72, and A73
We reached this conclusion because all of these smartphones had at least Android 10 at release. Samsung has promised that support for their Galaxy devices will last for at least 3 Android updates. So these devices should definitely get a new update. The Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Samsung Galaxy S10 can also be updated. Since they are still quite powerful and fresh. The rest of the smartphones are likely to just keep getting security updates.
