If you’re a comic book fan, you’ve probably been following the situation around the famous Marvel Cinematic Universe. It already has more than 20 movies and dozens of the most fascinating characters. The not-so-distant ending of the Infinity Saga has left fans wondering who will be the central character in the film universe now. One of the main contenders for that role is Spider-Man. The movies they made about him were quite successful even before people knew what the Marvel Cinematic Universe was. These include Sam Raimi’s original trilogy with Tobey Maguire, the new Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield, and the fresh Spider-Man played by Tom Holland. But where can you see all these movies now?

Who holds the cinematic rights to the Spider-Man

Even though Marvel Studios and all their characters are owned by Disney, one of the most popular comic book characters still belongs to Sony. They still have all the screen rights to the character. At first, Disney and Sony reached an agreement in which Spider-Man first appeared in Captain America: Civil War, and then a solo Spider-Man: Homecoming movie was made about him. After that, they could not agree on what to do next, whether Spider-Man would appear in future Marvel films or stay only with Sony. In the end, Sony made a deal in which the Spider-Man movies would appear on streaming Disney Plus, Hulu, and other Disney channels. The movies will appear there as early as 2022 and will remain there until 2026. But first the movies will appear on Netflix and only after that will move to Disney Plus, but only in the US.
