Disney is the giant of the entertainment industry. They make the most popular movies, produce the most popular toys and, of course, own the best amusement parks in the world. Among other things, their parks are pretty technologically advanced.
Disney has announced the launch date for the new MagicBand Plus at Disneyland and California Adventure parks. You’ll be able to buy it starting October 26. It can be used as a park admission ticket and tie your Lightning Lane passes and Photopass photos to it. It will also have other features in the future.
If you are a Magic Key owner, Disney Vacation Club member, or Disney employee, you will get early access to purchase MagicBand Plus as early as October 19. After that, you’ll be able to start using it in the parks right away.
Among its announced features, MagicBand Plus can vibrate and glow to the beat of music and fireworks during World of Color at California Adventure and Fantasmic at Disneyland. It will also be compatible with new nighttime spectacles starting as part of the January Disney 100 Years of Wonder (Disney100) celebration.
You can also use it in Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters interactive quests. You can find the virtual bounty hidden in the Black Spire Outpost using the bracelet. But that is not all MagicBand Plus has to offer.
The company said that it could also be used to pay for dining and merchandise at Disneyland and a key to a hotel room at Disneyland – both of which the Disneyland version has. You can purchase the MagicBand Plus at the following locations:
- Disneyland: Emporium, Pioneer Mercantile, Tomorrow Landing.
- California Adventure: Elias & Co., Trolley Treats, Oswald’s, Seaside Souvenirs
- Downtown Disney: World of Disney, Disney’s Pin Traders
- Disneyland Resorts: Disney’s Fantasia Shop (Disneyland Hotel), Mickey in Paradise (Paradise Pier Hotel), Acorns Gifts & Goods (Disney’s Grand Californian Resort).
Setting it up is similar to other Disneyland wristbands. You will need the Disneyland app for it. After downloading it, open the app, tap the wristband to turn it on, and bring it to your phone. Then follow the instructions to link the device to your Disney account.
