TikTok in-app notifications were one of the few things I didn’t like about TikTok. They showed up too often when I was already in the app. And just distracted from browsing, I can’t recall a single time when they were useful.
And a lot of people complained about the fact that you can’t turn them off. Unlike push notifications. Here’s an example of Anastasia‘s article on tab-tv.com where people are outraged in the comments as to why she didn’t tell us how to turn off in-app notifications. The sad thing was that there was no way to turn in-app notifications off. Now there is a way.
I can’t say for sure if this feature appeared in the latest TikTok update or in earlier versions. At least I couldn’t find it in the change log in AppStore. However, I noticed it right today.

All you need to do is just tap on “In-app notifications” and you can manage them
