Domino’s Pizza is working to create a fleet of 800 electric cars. The plan is to have an electric Chevrolet Bolt 2023. Overall, the company is looking to make delivery more environmentally friendly.

The new fleet of electric cars will also help increase driver recruitment. This is one area of hiring in which the company has seen a lag in recent quarters.

Domino’s has taken a serious look at reducing its environmental footprint. The pizza chain had previously set a goal of zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. CEO Russell Weiner said that optimizing the way pizza is delivered is critical.

This way, the Chevy Bolt EV will provide the company with zero exhaust emissions. It will also lower fuel costs for cars.

The first 100 cars have arrived at selected franchise and corporate stores across the U.S. The remaining 700 Chevy Bolt EVs will arrive in the coming months.

More company officials are interested in hiring new employees. Weiner said it would attract a different pool of drivers. Right now, the company is still hiring people with their cars.

He added that Domino’s employs many people with driver’s licenses in different positions, and as he said, all they need is a car. So they are counting on attracting additional labor when the market is limited.
