Content from TikTok has long been outside of the platform itself, and almost everyone is familiar with this application. It has changed many people’s lives and routines, especially during the pandemic. The platform has formed a huge community of different interests. Users appreciate the interface and user experience, but some things can cause doubts or misunderstandings. In this article, I will tell you how you can edit the TikTok caption even after posting.
How to edit a TikTok caption after posting
Unfortunately, TikTok doesn’t allow you to edit the title of the video after you have posted it. This is not a flaw, but just a measure that allows people not to lose their favorite videos and find them easier. Since it is not possible to change the name of an already posted video, there is a slightly different option:
- Tap the “Me” icon on the lower right-hand side of your screen
- Select the video, then tap the “horizontal ellipsis” (three horizontal dots) on the right
- Select “Save Video”
- After saving is completed, re-post the exact same video with the new caption. Click on the “+” symbol located at the bottom of the screen
- Tap the “Upload” option on the right-hand side of the red record button
- You’ll see a list of your pictures and videos. Select the one you’ve already saved from TikTok, then tap “Next”
- Once again, tap on “Next” in the upper-right corner. On this page, you can add text, stickers, and change effects
- For a third time, tap “Next” in the bottom-right section of the screen
- Update the caption and change your audience preferences
- Select “Post”
- Now, your newly updated content appears in your timeline, but delete the original video. From the home page, tap the “Me” icon located at the bottom
- Select the video you’d like to remove, then tap on the “horizontal ellipsis” (three horizontal dots) on the right side of the video
- In the row of options displayed above the “Cancel” link, scroll to the right (if applicable) and choose “Delete”
- Confirm your choice by tapping on “Delete”
The big disadvantage is the fact that you have to delete videos with comments and likes, but if you notice a typo or want to update the title as soon as you post a video, you’ll be able to avoid this problem because you’ll have time to fix it before the first users interact with your content.
Is it possible to change the soundtrack to a TikTok video
The point is that most TikTok videos are lip-synced, changing the soundtrack may spoil synchronization. The soundtrack is added as a layer to the video during creation and is then saved as a single file. So it won’t be easy to change the sound in an existing video. It is possible, but only with the help of third-party programs, and this can affect the quality of the video itself. But in general, it is worth a try if you are willing to do so.
How to add text to a TikTok video
After you have filmed a video and clicked the checkbox to confirm it, you will be redirected to the post formatting, where you can see a text box in the right-hand corner. That’s where you can write the text and choose the color and font for it. When finished adding text to your TikTok, add any other filter you wish to add, then finalize it.
And that is pretty much all you need to know on how to successfully edit your videos on TikTok. Have fun!
