How to change your PUBG nickname

Online multiplayer game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or simply PUBG appeared in late March 2017, almost immediately taking its place in the top sales – more than a million copies sold in the first sixteen days on Steam, 4 million – already in two months. This wasn’t a bad result for a game in early access.

Before choosing a nickname in PUBG – think 10 times. This isn’t DOTA 2 or CS: GO, where you can change the nickname several times a day, according to your mood. PUBG has a very strict policy in this regard. The name change in multiplayer games isn’t the easiest task. More often than not game makers require money for this procedure, and the developers of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds are no exception. Anyway, let’s take a closer look at how to change your PUBG nickname.

What is PUBG?

It all started, as is often the case in the industry, with amateur fashion. PUBG author Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Green, photographer and designer, loved two things: military simulations and teenage dystopias. The fruit of this sinful love was “modification to modification” – Battle Royale for the extremely popular at the time online zombie survival game DayZ, in turn, based on the tactical shooter ArmA 2.

The title of the book by Koshun Takami that inspired DayZ: Battle Royale is a fair guess, even for someone who has never read anything outside of the school curriculum or seen a Takeshi Kitano movie. In the novel Battle Royale and its film adaptation, the rules of the game were described long before Mr. Green took over.

All he had to do was to replace conditional Asia with equally conditional Eastern Europe, schoolchildren with various freaks, forbidden sectors with an ever-shrinking circular safety zone, add a parachute jump as a cheerful start, and reduce the match time from three days to thirty minutes.

A few dozen opponents start unarmed and have to search for supplies and implements of mortality around the area or get them in combat. To make sure that the players don’t feel like life, the campers aren’t cheeky, and the parties aren’t delayed, the boundaries of the safe zone are gradually narrowed, and outside of it, the characters take damage. In the end, the last survivor (or the surviving team) wins. Now, it also has ranked just like in Apex Legends.

How to change the nickname in PUBG

For a long time, changing your nickname in the version of PUBG: Battlegrounds for PC was impossible. According to the developers, this restriction was due to the anti-cheater system built into the game. If you consider how PUBG suffers from foul play fans, such a tough policy seemed quite justified.

Nevertheless, the opportunity to change your nickname for PC players has appeared. To change your in-game nickname, you need to use a special item – the “Nickname change” card. You can buy it in the in-game store for 990 G-coins ($9.99). However, you should know that this card can only be applied once. Therefore, think carefully about which nickname you want so that you don’t have to pay twice.

Of course, there’s another inconvenient freeway. You can create a new Steam account and add PUBG to your library. Luckily, recently it’s free. When you add a game, you’ll be able to choose a new nickname.

However, it’s not convenient at all, because you’ll have to switch between accounts every time you want to play other games. Although, if you only play PUBG, there shouldn’t be any problem. The most important thing is that after that you don’t suffer from lags in PUBG.

What is the plot and gameplay in PUBG?

There’s no plot component in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. The reasons for a good hundred players killing each other aren’t revealed to gamers. The only thing that’s known from the game’s lore is that an apocalypse happened.

However, the important thing is that exactly one hundred people begin their journey – to the honor of the game, the required number of players is recruited in a few seconds – and, having boarded a transport plane, fly to an abandoned island somewhere in the sea-ocean. There isn’t a soul, only ruins filled with all sorts of belongings: weapons, bulletproof vests, first-aid kits and other useful things for survival. Again, no one knows who stores them here.

Already on approach to the island, players decide where they begin their battle because you can jump out of the plane. A parachute is available. However, there’s almost everything else missing – in contrast to the progenitor book, where you were given at least some weapons and even a bun, you land almost in an Adam costume, having only your fists with which, if you want to, you can still lay your opponent on his shoulder blades. However, this isn’t recommended.

What are the PUBG mechanics?

The choice of location discussed above is critical-somewhere there’s more great equipment, but more hostile players who are as interested in it as you are. Somewhere there’s little equipment, a few enemies are claiming it. The usual strategy – after choosing the initial location – is the good old “get in that pretty house and take everything in it that’s lying around”.

Survival should be approached with a sober mind and a healthy calculation. Newcomers to the game, for example, to determine quite simply – most often, they’re confused look around, trying to understand what is still going on here, naturally becoming prey to more experienced players who aren’t prone to sentimentality. You have to learn by experience, immediately getting used to the idea that there’s no respawning, that is, revival, here at all.

What are some tips for newcomers to PUBG?

Choose your first location wisely. A reasonable step is to start the game in a place with the least amount of landed enemies – there the beginner will be quite comfortable surviving and killing. A good place to start is, for example, Primorsk – good equipment with a minimum of players.

Find weapons to suit you. There are a lot of weapons in the game, so it’s recommended to try out each one to pick the one that’s right for you. Pick up everything, but not everything. If you happen to find yourself in a place full of derelict gear, don’t be too quick to take everything. Choose carefully, and sift out the most useful things – otherwise, you risk getting carried away and not noticing someone’s footsteps behind you.

An open door won’t close by itself, so be careful to close it on your way out. If you see a door swinging open, chances are there’s already someone in the building ahead of you. Ambush them by checking if there’s a trap set for you.

Don’t forget to listen to what’s going on around you. It may very well save your life. Lure the enemy into traps, go around them, hide – anything that lets you outlast them is good.
