For many gamers and e-sports fans, Twitch has become the ideal platform for video game broadcasts. Some can share their gameplay and skills while others can watch, chat and have fun. Also, Twitch has become a great place to make money and many streamers broadcast on a full-time basis. In addition, the platform often hosts live streaming of cybersports events.

But there are also people who either did not like the experience on Twitch, or they simply did not like the format. There are two options for deleting an account. One simply deactivates it, which allows you to save the information and simply “freeze” the account. And the other is more radical and with it, you can erase your profile for good.

Except that the latter option is not so easy to find via settings. And that’s because the account can have a lot of important progress and it is impossible to restore it later. To avoid accidental misclicks, the developers have hidden this option. But in this article, you will find both options to deactivate the Twitch account.

How to disable your Twitch account

First, you should try the simpler way to delete, or rather deactivate the account. Follow these instructions:

  • If you need to deactivate your account, open the Twitch homepage and click on the profile icon in the upper left corner of the screen
  • In the pop-up window, find and click on Settings
  • Scroll down the page and you will see a paragraph called Disabling Your Twitch Account

When you make sure that you entered the correct account (you may have more than one) in the name text bar, you can safely deactivate it. When you do so, you can specify the reason for deactivation.

Now your account is disabled. To continue using your Twitch account, all you need to do is log in again – and you’re back! Then the website will offer you an option to reactivate your account.

How to delete your Twitch account permanently

If you do decide to delete the account at all, you can not even try to look for this option through Settings. This may cause confusion among some users, but it keeps them from making spontaneous decisions.

The option to delete a Twitch account permanently can be found at Privacy Choices in Twitch. Remember that all of your progress and information will be lost once you delete the account.

Here’s how to delete a Twitch account permanently:

  • Follow this link to delete your account
  • Log into your account using the details of the account you want to delete
  • Make sure your account details are correct (the name in the upper text bar). You also can explain what is the reason you’re deleting your account.
  • Click on Delete Account

When you’ve confirmed the deletion of your account, Twitch will still give you another chance to think hard about this move – your account will be deactivated for 90 days. During this period, you can resume all your information, but after this term expires, the account will be permanently deleted.

In other words, Twitch is a great platform for streaming and watching broadcasts, but if it doesn’t work for you, don’t worry – Twitch allows you to erase your data. It also gives you a chance to get it back if you change your mind.
