Disney Plus pricing policy: What’s the cost of Disney Plus

Disney relies heavily on bundles to provide Disney Plus with more flavorful offerings and make them more versatile. However, figuring out all the offerings is difficult enough. I can even say that Disney has made its pricing policy confusing enough that the average user doesn’t know what to choose.

There are actually about 6 different options for how you can subscribe to Disney Plus (ranging from the $8 cheapest offer) to the $79 per month bundle, which will include not only a Disney Plus subscription but ad-free Hulu, ESPN+ and Live TV.

Disney Plus compared to other streaming services

Disney Plus is cheaper than other services, even cheaper than the basic Netflix plan, which costs $9 (or $18 if you want a premium plan to watch up to 4 streams simultaneously in 4K). Below you can see the graph comparing the prices for 8 major streaming services.

As you can see – Disney Plus is one of the cheapest, just above Apple TV+, but Disney Plus offers more content and Apple TV+ is widely sponsored by Apple in order to gain a niche in the streaming services market.

What is the Disney Plus pricing and bundling policy?

Now, let’s talk a little bit more about Disney Plus bundling policy. While services like Netflix are offering different types of accounts (Basic, Standard, Premium) with some restrictions for cheaper ones, Disney Plus offers only one standard plan for $8 a month.

However, if Disney Plus isn’t the only thing you’re watching – you can bundle it with other services and save some money.

For example, you can bundle Disney Plus with Hulu (with ads) and add ESPN+, such bundle costs only $14 a month (Hulu, for example, costs $7 for a plan with ads).

But you can even bundle your Disney Plus subscription with ad-free Hulu + Live TV + ESPN+ for $79 a month. And that’s still quite cheaper than subscribing to all these add-ons + any other streaming service.

Disney Plus subscription planPrice
Disney Plus (monthly subscription)$8/month
Disney Plus (annual subscription)$80/year
Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN+ bundle$14/month
Disney Plus, Hulu (ad-free), and ESPN+ bundle$20/month
Disney Plus, Hulu + Live TV, and ESPN+ bundle$73/month
Disney Plus, Hulu (ad-free) + Live TV, and ESPN+ bundle$79/month

What do you get with the basic Disney Plus plan?

The good news is that there’s no restriction for “basic” plans like the kind that Netflix has. And there is no such thing as a “basic” plan, it’s only $7.99.

For that money you get quite a lot:

  • Access to the Disney Plus library (including access to the original content you won’t find on other streaming services).
  • Use of up to 7 different profiles.
  • GroupWatch feature that allows you to watch content with your friends or family.
  • Unlimited downloads.

What are additional features you can get with Disney Plus?

The one I like the most is Premier Access. It costs additional money, however, through Premier Access you can watch a selected title that’s still playing in the theater. For any title, you should pay $30.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic services begun to offer early access to their theatrical content and this is looking quite promising, so we can expect more content included to Premier Access in the future.
