Looking for the Social Security Number of a specific person? Whatever the reason, you can find out basic information about almost anyone through their SSN.

Is it possible to find someone’s Social Security Number (SSN)

If you’re a citizen of the United States, you have had to deal with SSN, because it’s a document that identifies you as a person who pays taxes and has a connection to the state in one way or another. That is, you already have this number when you were born or received citizenship. Thus, the state can always contact you, have information about you such as social status, employment, credit checks, loans, criminal histories, and more.

At the same time, the state gives you all the rights and convenience of having this document. Without it, you’re not, in fact, a full citizen of the United States.

However, is it possible to find out your or someone else’s SSN? A little more about this is below.

Why Social Security Number is worth your attention

Everyone probably knows that your income is watched by the Internal Revenue Service, which monitors and regulates your taxes. Throughout your life, Social Security keeps a sort of ledger that records all of your income and tax payments. How many years you have worked and how much you have received in your life affects your monthly income after age 62.

By the way, many people accept this income a little later, as the amount of this income increases if you have more years of “working capacity.

If you decide to find information about a person, it will be much easier to do it through their SSN. Basically, this information includes full name, date of birth, a missing person’s address, phone number, location along background checks. Some services offer you even to check a person’s connected phone numbers, linked email addresses, linked addresses, the record of death, linked details of relatives, and marriage background

Below are the following categories for SSN search:

  • SSN Search for criminal records gives first name, middle name, last name, and first 3 digits of SSN
  • Public Record Search gives first name, middle name, last name, city (optional), and state
  • Reverse Phone lookup gives the phone number in the format XXX-XXX-XXXX
  • Background check provides the first name, middle name, last name, city (optional), and state

In addition to all this, you can even find details of the property, criminal records, eviction data, any foreclosure information, bank loan information, mortgage history, and lender information.

Where to search Social Security Number

There may be situations in which you lose track of your SSN and if you need to find out exactly what your number is, it’s quite easy to do, even if it takes a little time. It’s best to go to your local Social Security Administration office and apply for a replacement. There you’ll be asked to present documents that prove your identities, such as a passport or a birth certificate. This will give you a new card with your number on it.

However, if you don’t need a new card and you have lost your number, you still have to go to a third party, such as your employer or a previous employer, and ask for a copy of your W2, W9, or another tax document used to track your income. That way you can find out your SSN.

What about third party services

There is also an option to find your number through third-party online services. You can do the same with other people. However, you have to know their real name. In general, it’s better to ask for the consent of the person you’re looking for in advance or contact a private detective service.

A person who is no longer alive can be found through the Social Security Death Index. However, many of these services charge a fee for this service.
