A year ago, Intel introduced the Arc brand for its high-performance consumer graphics products. It demonstrated what the graphics processors of this line are capable of using video games. However, the latest Arc GPUs aren’t designed for gaming at all. They were designed to work with applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Handbrake, and DaVinci Resolve Studio.

Intel introduced its Arc Pro line with three models, starting with the Arc Pro A40, which has a “tiny, single-slot form factor. The Arc Pro A50 is a step up and has a larger two-slot form factor, and the A30M was created specifically for laptops.

The new models have ray tracing and machine learning features built in, but their key features differ slightly. For example, the A40 and A30M have 3.50 teraflops of graphics power, while the A50 has 4.80 teraflops. Both desktop models come with 6GB of memory, while laptop models come with 4GB.

In addition, all models support AV1 hardware coding acceleration, which Intel says is an industry first. The new GPUs also have four mini-display ports for mounting multiple screens and can support two 8K 60Hz displays, one 5K 240Hz display, two 5K 120Hz displays, or four 4K 60Hz displays.

Intel hasn’t yet said how much these new discrete workstation GPUs will cost, but stated that they will be available later this year “from leading mobile and desktop ecosystem partners”.
