This week, Nvidia finally introduced its new line of graphics cards to the world. At GTC 2022, the company showed the latest generation graphics cards, PTX 4080 and PTX 4090. These two graphics cards will be the high-end ones in the lineup.

Previously, many people blamed the company that their 3000 series chips were not powerful enough, and there was no point in upgrading if you already have a 2000 series. However, now it seems that the situation could change. Judging by the specs, Nvidia has made the 4000 series graphics cards very powerful.

The company introduced the most powerful graphics card in the world at the moment, RTX 4090. It works with 24 GB of GDDR6X memory. The company said it will be 2-4 times faster than the RTX 3090 Ti.

Also, according to the company’s statement, the graphics card will run with 16 384 CUDA cores, which is off the charts, and clocked up to 2.52 GHz. This will require a lot of power consumption so that the graphics card will have a TDP of 450W – the same as the RTX 3090 Ti, but with almost twice the memory and processing power.

Also, one of the main features was the presence of DLSS 3.0 from Nvidia. This technology will be exclusive to the 4000 series cards and can significantly improve the performance of these graphics cards. This is a very major upgrade.

The RTX 4080 was also introduced. It will be a bit less powerful, but it can still surprise you. It will also have DLSS 3.0. Besides, this graphics card will have two versions, 16 GB and 12 GB.

RTX 4080 16GB will have 9,728 CUDA cores (750 more than RTX 3080), 320W power consumption while RTX 4080 12GB will come with 7,680 CUDA cores, 285W TDP.

All graphics cards run on Ada Lovelace, allowing them to use DLSS 3.0 and several other technologies that will improve graphics rendering and CPU performance.

Among the disadvantages, many highlight the massive size of video cards. Some gamers will have to consider changing their case, as 4080 or 4090 just do not fit.

Regarding the price and release date, the company stated the following data:

  • RTX 4090 will be released October 12, 2022 for $1,599
  • RTX 4080 16GB will be released in late November at $1,199
  • RTX 4080 12GB will be released in late November for $899.

However, the presentation was not rich in different tests and benchmarks. So we must wait until these graphics cards get into the hands of reviewers and gamers to see the actual state of affairs and assess how these cards will be impactful.
