Sony Xperia PRO and Sony Xperia Pro-I users have a new feature that extends your smartphone functionality as an external monitor for Sony cameras.

The fact is that Sony smartphones have been able to be used as external monitors for cameras such as Sony’s Alpha. However, users will now have access to features such as False Color, Live Streaming, and Waveform. This means you can control the camera directly from your smartphone.

With Waveform, you can control the camera with your smartphone and adjust functions such as exposure control, and RGB balance. False Color, on the other hand, is used for Aperture settings and makes it easier for you to notice changes caused by exposure adjustments, thanks to Xperia’s larger screen.

Also with the new features, you no longer need to connect your camera and smartphone to your computer to transfer data directly. Now you can do it directly to your smartphone. So now if you connect your Xperia smartphone to the camera, you can record and stop right away without touching the camera itself. Your smartphone will display the current EV indication, F-number, ISO values, recording status, and shutter speed.

All Xperia owners can install the update now using a push notification in the notification bar of their smartphone. It will be downloaded as a firmware update to your Smartphone.
