Twelve years have passed since the premiere of The Walking Dead, and the show has finally been officially wrapped. AMC aired the season 11 finale episode with the meaningful subtitle “Rest in Peace?”.
The cult series managed to become a TV phenomenon during its existence, gathering a vast number of fans and awards around it. However, the show has lost its record ratings over time, and its creators have markedly lowered the quality bar.
According to data from analysts, the final season of The Walking Dead averaged less than 2 million viewers, including the last episode. In comparison, seasons 5 and 7 grossed more than 16 million at the release time.
The Walking Dead TV franchise doesn’t end along with the series finale. The creators have already announced several spin-offs, including a solo show about Daryl Dixon.
