You can now edit and unsend messages on iPhone, that is the feature we were waiting for so long

You can now edit and unsend text messages on your iPhone. The thing common for almost all (or even all of them?) messaging apps is now available with your texts on your Apple device.

The thing that you couldn’t edit the already sent message was irritating. Especially if you needed to correct a typo or wanted to unsend your message. And now it’s over, you can edit them whenever you want.

This feature goes with the iOS 16 update, it became available on Monday. If you install an update – you can edit messages.

That’s simple to do. We (maybe) would publish a how-to post, but I don’t think it’s needed. As in any other messenger, editing or unending is straightforward – you just tap on a message you want to change and can choose between two options: Undo Send or Edit.

However, there are some strange things you need to know about:

  1. If the person you’re texting to hasn’t updated iPhone yet, and you would edit a message – they would get two messages (original and edited).
  2. In the same way, if you’re chatting with someone who hasn’t updated iOS yet, and would delete the message – they can see it on devices that weren’t updated.
  3. Also, this feature wouldn’t work if you’re chatting with Android users (text messages with such users are green instead of blue).

That means despite the editing feature being now available, you should be careful in order not to slip up.
