Google’s widgets for the iOS 16 lock screen are officially available. As announced in September, widgets provide visual information and shortcuts for some of the company’s leading apps.
Gmail can show the number of new messages, and Maps can provide links to your favorite trips or search for destinations. Widgets for Chrome and Google Apps can help you start a Web search, give a voice command, or launch features like Lens translation and the Dino game in Chrome.
There are other more specialized widgets. Google News can show recent headlines. Google Drive provides quick access to suggested and asterisked cloud files.
Listening to YouTube Music has also become much more convenient because you can quickly launch a playlist when you go for a run, for example. Moreover, you can quickly view your YouTube video subscriptions or search for YouTube Music tracks.
Widgets are automatically displayed when you set up the lock screen. Of course, they are most suitable for the always-on display of the iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max. Regardless of the device used, they can make Google apps more appealing.
