How to remove a device from Spotify

Spotify is one of the most popular streaming services in the world. It has a massive collection of music from all genres. You can save your music to listen to it offline. Spotify also lets you create a music collection of your favorite tracks so you can listen to them in a row without being distracted by the constant search for that particular track.

If subscribed to Spotify Premium, you may use the service on more than one device. For example, you might connect to a speaker at a party or use your login information on a friend’s computer but later forget to delete the device.

You can remove a device from your Spotify account using the desktop program for Mac and PC. You can also do it using your iPhone or Android device in the mobile app.

So, here’s how it works.

How to remove all devices from Spotify using a PC

It is easier to forget devices on the Spotify desktop app because you can remove all devices simultaneously. Then, you can sign in using your Spotify credentials to the few devices you want to use for the music streaming service.

So, if you want to remove all devices from Spotify using your PC or Mac, you have to follow these steps:

  • First, open the Spotify app on your desktop and sign in, if necessary.
  • Then, click the down arrow icon next to your username in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Choose Account from the list in the drop-down menu.
  • The Account overview page opens in the browser of your choice.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Sign Out Everywhere to forget all devices connected to your Spotify account.

Once you’ve completed these steps, you can sign in to Spotify with your login and password on those devices you want to use as the main for streaming.

How to remove a device from a Spotify account using the mobile app

If you want to remove a device from your Spotify account on the mobile app using your iPhone or Android device, you have to follow these steps:

  • First, go to the Spotify app on your smartphone.
  • After that, tap on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the Home menu to access your Spotify settings.
  • Tap on Devices in the menu list.
  • Then, choose Devices Menu to edit the devices connected to your Spotify account.
  • Search for and select the name of the device you want to forget, and tap on the three dots icon next to the name of the selected device.
  • In the pop-up menu, choose Forget device.

Once you have completed these steps, the device that you’ve selected will be removed from your Spotify account until it is connected again.

How to unsubscribe from Spotify Premium

To cancel a Spotify subscription, you must do it on the Spotify website in a mobile or desktop web browser. That’s because Spotify doesn’t provide an option to unsubscribe directly in the app. It is probably a little clumsy, but there are no other ways to do it.

To cancel your Premium plan at any time on your account page, follow these steps:

  • Sign in to your Spotify account through the website.
  • Under Your plan, click Change plan.
  • Scroll to Spotify Free and click Cancel Premium.

Subscription will be valid until the next billing date, after which your account switches to free.

You keep your playlists and saved music when your account is free. You can also sign in and listen to music with ads.

How to unsubscribe from Spotify Premium on iPhone

If you subscribed to Spotify Premium with your Apple ID, you could cancel your subscription from your iPhone or iPad’s settings. To do so:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Go to your Apple ID.
  • Tap Subscriptions.
  • After that, choose the Spotify subscription you want to manage.
  • Finally, tap Cancel Subscription.

You can also contact the Spotify support team to cancel your subscription remotely.

How to change your name and add a user photo in Spotify

You can sign in to Spotify via Facebook or sign up with an email address. In the first case, the username will be the same as in the social network. And it will be randomly generated in the second case.

You can get rid of the combination of numbers and letters assigned to you by changing your name in the service’s mobile app:

  • Open Spotify and go to Settings.
  • Then tap on your username.
  • After that, tap Edit profile under your photo.
  • Here you can change your username and photo.
  • Finally, tap Save.

That’s all. Your chosen name will be visible to your friends and other service users.
