Snapchat – has taken one of the leading positions among popular social networking apps. One of the reasons for this success is the most innovative way of sending messages – through snapshots. Despite its high-tech features, Snapchat also has its flaws. From time to time, users are facing the inability to refresh the app. Because of this problem, until the user solves it, he can’t send or receive messages. To solve this problem, here are some ways of fixing it.

Few ways to solve problems if you cannot refresh Snapchat

If you want to send a message and you understand you can’t do it due to the inability to refresh, here are the possible causes of the problem and their solutions:

Check your Internet connection first

The most easily solved possible problem is the internet connection. If you can’t refresh a page or a private message with someone, first of all, check that there is nothing wrong with your internet connection. If you are connected via Wi-Fi check if there is anything that is interfering with the data transfer between you and the router. Try to get close to the router and check how the connection works with other apps and devices. If you are unable to establish a wi-fi connection, you can check how well it works with your PC. Connect the Internet cable directly to your PC or laptop and ping the Internet connection if it’s a home network. You can also use a speed tester on the Internet. If WIFI doesn’t work and you can’t solve the reason it’s not available, simply switch to mobile data. If after switching to mobile data you still encounter the same problem, check the quality of the connection and whether you need to top up your plan.

Try to reset your phone

If the above steps didn’t help, try resetting your phone. This can help to solve both problems with Wi-Fi and mobile data and can help get rid of bugs in the app itself if the problem is in it.

How to fix the problem if servers aren’t working

Snapchat servers may also be the problem. It sometimes happens that the servers are overloaded or there is a massive update for example. There are two ways to check if the problem is in the server or not. The first is to go to other online apps. If all of them work but Snapchat doesn’t, then the problem is with the server. The second, the more reliable way is to go on the Internet and check on forums or ask other Snapchat users you know if the app is working properly. If they also complain, this means that there is something wrong with Snapchat global servers. In this case, you can solve this problem only by waiting.

If you don’t want to visit forums – you can use Downdetector to see whether Snapchat’s servers are running properly.

How to clear a Snapchat cache

If everything’s alright with the Internet, servers are working, but rebooting didn’t help, try to clear the Snapchat cache. To do this you will need:

  • On your phone go to Settings.
  • Then select the Snapchat app.
  • After going to the Snapchat page in Settings, click on Clear cache and Clear storage.
  • Restart the Snapchat app.

After that, the error should disappear. If you still can’t reload the page or a message, then the last option awaits you.

How to update Snapchat and why you may need to delete it

Check whether the latest version of the app is installed on your phone. If not, update it and restart. To do this go to the app page in your store and click “Update”. If this doesn’t help, uninstall the app and download it again.

If nothing works – call support

In case absolutely nothing helped, you can still contact Snapchat’s technical support. They will have to check whether everything is working on their end and help sort out the situation.
