Twitter starts sharing podcasts with Blue subscribers

Twitter started sharing its updated Spaces tab. Starting this Monday, Twitter Blue members on iOS can experience the new interface element. This can be done using the Labs early access feature. The tab combines live and recorded Spaces, and even offers a selection of popular podcasts you can listen to right in the app.

The fact that Twitter was working on adding podcasts became known back in March. Then developer Jane Manchun Wong found mentions of the tab in Twitter’s code. A little later, the company began testing the interface with a small group of English-speaking users on Android and iOS.

At this point, the tab has separate categories for current and upcoming spaces and a “Stations” section that groups podcasts and Spaces by similar topics.

The interface for finding a particular podcast or episode may not look perfect. But it is meant to be. This tab is no substitute for specialized apps like Pocket Casts. Nevertheless, it can help you find something new to listen to. If in the process, you look in one or two Spaces, that means the tab has served its purpose.
